A tick bite can transmit borrelia, which are bacteria t hat cause borreolosis, also known as Lyme Disease. If the typical rash is detected in good time, the infection can be combated with antibiotics. If the rash is not recognized, a chronic progression can develop. Since borrelia are sensitive to oxygen, they can survive in areas with poor blood circulation, such as the joints and tendons or the nervous system as the antibiotic therapy does not reach them there, either.
The effects of Lyme disease
Constant tiredness, exhaustion, muscle and joint pain, psycho-emotional complaints such as concentration disorders, forgetfulness, sleep disorders and a depressive mood are just some of the symptoms. The organism's confrontation with the pathogen leads to chronic inflammatory processes, which gradually lead to a dysfunction of the mitochondria (power plants of the cells) and decisively obstruct the body's energy supply.
The efficiency of IHHT
On the one hand, IHHT strengthens the mitochondria, which supports an improvement in physical performance and psychic recovery. On the other hand, the sensitivity of borrelia to oxygen is utilized. Brief breathing of low-dosed oxygen, for example 10% O₂ instead of the normal 21% O₂, also reduces the oxygen content of the surrounding tissue and the bo rrelia leave their “protected area”. By breathing a high dose of oxygen (30-40% O₂) the borrelia are partly killed. Several sessions are necessary, which should be supplemented by high doses of vitamin C infusions, as the bacteria die off more easily due to the additional antioxidant effect.
